“After using C&K for several years with no issues, our last big purchase was SO disappointing! We purchased a new furnace/AC and gas water heater. All three installed same day. But, the water heater was not installed correctly, and this would have been discovered had they done a pressure test OR a gas sniffer. There was a gas leak, and we did not realize it. It was hot, so windows closed with AC on. Slow leak, so we became “nose blind” to the smell. A guest noticed it as soon as they walked in…. Called our gas company and they came immediately and found two leaks and turned our gas off. I contacted C&K the next day, which unfortunately was a holiday… a service guy did come out but couldn’t fix it – said he’d order the part on Monday. SO, we went 4 days with no gas (we have gas stove, gas water heater). Service guys did come out on Monday and corrected the issue. But no apology, no follow up phone call. And this leak caused physical illness in myself (resulting in dr visit), and a vet visit for our puppy. They honestly didn’t seem to care. After the fact, I’ve heard from many in the Ames area that this is an ongoing issue. I would not recommend them. Very disappointed.”
